Ben Verlander (yes, brother of Justin) can rake

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

Ben Verlander likely has to go through life as "Justin's brother." Saturday, though, he carved out a niche all his own.

The younger brother of Tigers ace Justin Verlander went 4 for 4 for Old Dominion in a 10-8 victory over Northeastern. He hit three home runs and had seven RBI. The three homers tied a school record and the seven RBI were one short of a school record (per ODU's website).

Also, for old-schoolers who love box scores, 4-3-4-7 is an absolute beauty.

The younger Verlander is now hitting .500/.520/1.167 with two triples, four homers, nine RBI and 10 runs in 25 plate appearances this season. Yes, it's a small sample and it's skewed by Saturday's onslaught, but that's a pretty sick triple slash line. We're guessing his big brother is proud.
