Report: Rejected Dodgers bidders' appeal successful, 5 groups in running

By C. Trent Rosecrans | Blogger
The number of groups bidding for the Dodgers has grown by one, as Stanley Gold and the family of the late Roy Disney were reinstated to the bidding, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Gold/Disney group had been rejected by Major League Baseball last week because of its financing, but the court-appointed mediator overturned the decision.

The mediator, Joseph Farnan, upheld the dismissal of developer Alan Casden. Two other groups rejected by MLB did not appeal.

The other four groups approved for bidding include one led by Steven Cohen and Patrock Soon-Shiong, another led by Magic Johnson and Stan Kasten, one led by Rams owner Stan Kroenke and the last group is led by Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley and Brewers minority owner Tony Ressler.

Frank McCourt has agreed to close the sale of the team by April 30 and reportedly hopes to choose a winner by April 1.
