Rejoice, Dodger fans: You may park at Dodger Stadium without fear of further lining the pockets of outgoing owner/ruiner-of-everything Frank McCourt.
According to an ESPN Los Angeles report, the new ownership group fronted by Magic Johnson now has control over the parking lots at Chavez Ravine. As a consequence, McCourt will receive no future revenues from them. He could, however, enjoy a windfall if the land surrounding the ballpark is ever developed. But, hey, who's counting at this point?
In any event, credit Johnson's group for baking control of those lots into their negotiations with McCourt. Otherwise, the prospect of a McCourt-owned parking lot at Dodger could've become a public-relations ordeal.
So consider this a capstone on what's been a wonderful week for Dodger partisans. Sure, McCourt's malicious caretaking netted him a king's ransom, but he's gone. And now comes word that there's no further threat of enriching Frankie Parking Lots by merely ... parking.
