Ozzie Guillen's suspension doesn't satisfy protesters

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer
The Marlins public relations disaster doesn't seem to be over after manager Ozzie Guillen's apology Tuesday. The Miami Herald has posted a picture to its Twitter account of people pushing against the doors of Marlins Park and says the scene is "getting ugly" with people demanding Guillen be fired. He has been suspended without pay for five games, but will keep his job, in the aftermath of making a positive comment about Cuban dictator Fidel Castro to Time magazine.

If this intensifies, the Marlins may have to reconsider keeping Guillen aboard as manager. Firing him wouldn't violate his First Amendment rights, which only protect against legal action. This is a business issue, and if the Marlins are losing a significant amount of fan support, they may have to change course for the sake of the bottom line. We'll see. If the protesters are only a small percentage of the fan base and/or they die down, Guillen will certainly keep his job after the five-game suspension.

Here are some pictures of the protests outside Marlins Park during and after Guillen's press conference.

For more, the Miami Herald Twitter account has posted a bevy of them and continues to do so. Including these two:

The first one says Guillen is a "communist rat." The one on the right calls him a "cretin stupid drunk."
