Brewers minor leaguers combine for a no-hitter

By C. Trent Rosecrans | Blogger
Brewers farmhands Chad Thompson and Mark Williams combined for a no-hitter for low-Class A Wisconsin, with Thompson pitching the first five innings and Williams finishing off the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners) for the final four innings in a 5-0 victory.

Thompson, 21, was making his Midwest League debut. A 27th-round pick in last year's draft, the 6-foot-8 right-hander struck out six in five innings, walking three.

The right-handed Williams, 22, struck out three -- including the last two batters he faced -- walked one and hit a batter. It was the fourth no-hitter in Timber Rattlers history.
