Troubling accusations against former major-leaguer Chad Curtis

By Dayn Perry | Baseball Writer
Chad CurtisFormer major-leaguer Chad Curtis is being investigated by local authorities for "inapppropriate touching" of students at the high school where he serves as a volunteer.

MLive.com reports that Curtis, who is a substitute teacher and volunteer weight-room attendant at Lakewood High School in Michigan, has not yet been charged but is the subject of a formal investigation. Pending the outcome of the investigation, Curtis has been suspended from his duties. He had been slated to take over as Lakewood's head football coach later this year.

Curtis, 43, spent parts of 10 seasons in the bigs with the Angels, Tigers, Dodgers, Indians, Yankees, and Rangers. He's perhaps best known for, in his Yankee days, hitting a walk-off home run in Game 3 of the 1999 World Series and then snubbing interviewer Jim Gray in the moments afterward.
