X-rays on the injured left hand of A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes revealed no broken bones, and he's instead been diagnosed with a strained muscle, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Cespedes hurt his hand during batting practice on Tuesday and was unable to play on Wednesday. A trip to the disabled list is not being considered, at least at the present time. Timetable for getting him back in the lineup? Slusser writes:
Interpreter Ariel Prieto responded "no" immediately without even translating the question when Céspedes was asked if there was a time frame for his return, but Céspedes said in English that "maybe" he will try to swing a bat Thursday. So that would be no timetable.
Cespedes is hitting .245/.319/.434 on the season. After a hot start, he has just two home runs over the last month-plus of play.
