The Phillies had already decided Vance Worley wouldn't make his start Wednesday against the Cubs, but now he'll miss at least one more start as the team placed him on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.
Right-hander Kyle Kendrick will start Wednesday at Wrigley Field, while the team called up left-hander Joe Savery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The move to the DL for Worley is retroactive to May 12. Worley is 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA in seven starts for the Phillies this season.
Savery has appeared in eight games for the Phillies this season, allowing four earned runs in eight innings of work. Kendrick is 0-3 with a 7.32 ERA in eight appearances, going 0-2 with a 6.43 ERA in three starts.
