Tigers' Austin Jackson headed to the DL

By C. Trent Rosecrans | Blogger
Austin JacksonAfter spending the last week on the bench, Tigers outfielder Austin Jackson will head to the disabled list with a left abdominal strain. The move will be made Friday, when Ryan Raburn will rejoin the club after missing three games on bereavement leave.

Jackson's DL stint will be retroactive to May 17, making him eligible to return on June 1. Jackson was initially in the team's lineup on Tuesday, but was scratched after an attempt at batting practice.

"It's getting better, but it's still a little bit away from me being ready," Jackson told MLive.com. "It's the best thing, instead of re-injuring it trying to come back early."

Jackson is scheduled to get an MRI on the injury on Friday.
