Busch Stadium streaker 'lost a bet'

Collin J. Grundstrom

Tonight in "Great Moments in Understatements" comes this gem from Joe Walsh, Busch Stadium's head of security. On 22-year-old streaker Collin J. Grundstrom, Walsh told Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, that Grundstrom "appeared to have been drinking."

Grundstrom, of Jefferson City, Mo., ran out onto the field before the seventh inning of the Cardinals' 10-9 loss to the Phillies.

According to the newspaper, Grundstrom was held overnight at a city jail and was charged with violations of two city ordinances. Grundstrom was charged with being a spectator running on the playing field and lewd and lascivious behavior. One official told the newspaper Grundstrom will likely face fines and could see jail time.

Grunstrom told police he ran onto the field because "he lost a bet."

Cardinals third baseman David Freese told FOXSportsMidwest.com's B.J. Rains that he wasn't concerned for his safety when he saw someone on the field -- "He's naked so I don't think he's carrying much. That relaxes that bit of the drama. I guess naked is better. Less to worry about."

The good news is the Cardinals lost, so nobody in St. Louis will start selling stuffed streakers (a la the Rally Squirrel) anytime soon. The guy was smart not to do this in Philly -- we all know where they'd aim their Tasers. Here's the video, if you're into that sort of thing.
