We'll find out the All-Star teams on Sunday, but Rangers starter Yu Darvish says he doesn't believe he should hear his name when the American League roster is announced.
"I think that's more of a buildup of who I am and where I came from," Darvish told reporters (via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram). "Maybe the media created this, promoting me this much. Personally, do I feel like an All-Star? I don't think so.
"I'm also hearing that I might start the All-Star Game, and that's totally out of context. Am I going to be an All-Star? I don't know. Do I think I'm worthy? Probably not. Plus, there are a lot of other players who deserve it, too."
Before Friday's games, Darvish is tied with teammate Matt Harrison and Tampa Bay's David Price for the league lead in wins with 10. He was fourth in strikeouts (106). His 3.57 ERA is 16th among qualified AL starters.
While some in Texas may think he has a chance to start the All-Star Game, I'm not so sure there's much danger of him starting. I'm not so sure Darvish is wrong -- there are pitchers that deserve it more, but if he does make the team, he probably won't be the worst pick.
