Chipper Jones, Yu Darvish lead All-Star 'Final Vote'

By Dayn Perry | Baseball Writer

Chipper Jones

The "Final Vote" balloting to determine the 34th and final All-Star roster spot for each league is ongoing, but the early returns are in. Braves third baseman Chipper Jones leads the NL vote, and Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish paces the AL hopefuls.

MLB.com doesn't disclose the exact totals, other than to say the leads of Jones and Darvish are each "slim."

Jones is followed by David Freese of the Cardinals, Bryce Harper of the Nationals, Aaron Hill of the Diamondbacks, and teammate Michael Bourn. In the AL, meanwhle, Jake Peavy of the White Sox is second behind Darvish, followed by Baltimore's Jason Hammel, Anaheim's (Los Angeles of) Ernesto Frieri, and Kansas City's Jonathan Broxton.

Voting continues until 4 pm ET on Thursday over at the mothership.

By way of reminder, we in this space have previously given our Fred McGriff-style "Full Professional Endorsements" to Messrs. Jones and Peavy.
