Marlins' bad pitching triggers Ozzie Guillen tirade

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

Last week, Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said he was about to "erupt." We can't be sure if this is what he had in mind, but he did have a tirade about the performance of his pitching staff following a 13-12, extra-inning loss to the Brewers.

Guillen "went on a postgame, profanity-laced rant in [the] clubhouse, for all to hear, ripping pitchers after Tuesday's loss," tweets Marlins beat writer Clark Spencer.

The Marlins offense should be commended, as they battled back from a 9-2 deficit to tie the game at 11 in the eighth inning. In the 10th, Jose Reyes homered to give the Marlins the lead.

But then, as has been all too common this season, Heath Bell blew the save, allowing a two-run walkoff home run to Aramis Ramirez.

Bell wasn't alone. Anibal Sanchez gave up six runs (five earned), Chad Gaudin coughed up three (zero earned) and Ryan Webb allowed two. In all, Marlins pitchers gave up 17 hits, which included four doubles and three home runs.
