Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton is already walking without the use of crutches after undergoing surgery on Sunday to remove loose cartilage from his knee. Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post also reports that Stanton will have his stitches removed on Monday, at which point he can begin the rehab process.
“It is definitely better than what I would have envisioned after surgery," Stanton told Capozzi. "I thought I was going to be miserable and make sure that every four hours I would have to take pain pills. I only needed a few and I was good.”
The 22-year-old right fielder, who's hitting .284/.364/.554 on the season, should be able to return to the active roster in four to six weeks.
