Mere days ago, Angels right-hander Dan Haren came off the DL after missing 18 days with low-back stiffness. Now, it appears that Haren will miss his next scheduled start.

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that Haren strained a back muscle while facing the Rays on Friday but notes that it's not the same muscle that forced him to the disabled list.

If Haren does indeed miss his turn on Wednesday, then Garrett Richards will start in his stead. Manager Mike Scioscia tells DiGiovanna that Haren should be able to take the mound again "shortly after" Wednesday.

On the season, Haren has 4.59 ERA in 115.2 innings pitched.
