So far, so good for Manny Machado

The recently called-up Manny Machado wasted no time in making an impression on his Orioles mates, as he went 2-for-4 with a triple in his major-league debut on Thursday. Friday's encore, however, was even more auspicious: Machado went 2-for-4 against the Royals with a pair of home runs and four RBI. As noted, the 20-year-old Machado becomes the youngest Oriole ever to notch a multi-homer game.

Two games into his big-league career, Machado is batting .500/.500/1.500. According to jurisdictional authorities, that is "good."

A sign of things to come? There's no doubting Machado's skills, so we could be seeing the beginning moments of a superstar. On the other hand, the likes of George Costanza would probably advise Machado to retire right now ...
