First came the troubling accusations that former major-league outfielder Chad Curtis had inappropriate physical contact with a pair of teenage girls while volunteering for a Michigan high school. Then came news that Curtis would stand trial.

Now, the AP reports, comes word that Curtis will face a third charge of criminal sexual misconduct, one involving yet another high-school-age girl.

Curtis's attorney says he'll press to have the new charge dropped and that his client maintains his innocence.

The 43-year-old Curtis won two World Series rings as a member of the Yankees during a major-league career that spanned parts of 10 seasons.
