The White Sox have activated first baseman Paul Konerko from the seven-day disabled list, the club announced Friday. Left-handed pitcher Hector Santiago was also promoted from Triple-A Charlotte to the White Sox, while infielder Orlando Hudson and left-handed reliever Leyson Septimo were placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Konerko hasn't played since August 7, when an inadvertant Jarrod Dyson elbow caught Konerko in the temple.

The first-place White Sox have gone 5-3 without Konerko, so it's not like they were hurting badly in the short-term. That being said, he provides an obvious boost.

Konerko, 36, is hitting .316/.388/.504 with 18 homers and 54 RBI in 101 games this season. The six-time All-Star is also a well-known clubhouse leader.
