The last-place Astros have fired manager Brad Mills, the team has announced. Hitting coach Mike Barnett and first-base coach Bobby Meacham have also been relieved of their duties.

The Astros will name interims to all three positions on Sunday.

Saturday's 12-4 loss to the Diamondbacks dropped the Astros to 39-82 on the season. Among their discouraging results this season is a 6-29 record in the second half, a 1-11 record in extra-inning games and a 12-48 mark on the road. While the Astros have fared slightly better in August, it was likely a 3-24 record in July that sealed Mills's fate.

Since taking over prior to the 2010 season, Mills has gone 171-274 as Houston's manager.
