Outspoken Chris Perez now going after his bosses

Indians All-Star closer Chris Perez isn't one to shy away from speaking his mind. Earlier this season, Perez had an issue with the Royals and later took the Cleveland fans to task for not putting up better attendance numbers.

Still, it's pretty shocking to see Perez take swipes at his bosses. Check this out, via MLB.com:

"Different owners," said Perez when asked why the Detroit Tigers have been able to find success and the Tribe has not. "It comes down to that. They [the Tigers] are spending money. He [Tigers owner Mike Ilitch] wants to win. Even when the economy [in Detroit] is down, he spent money. He's got a team to show for it. You get what you pay for in baseball."

He didn't stop with just the ownership, again via MLB.com:

"It's not just ownership," Perez said. "They don't make trades. It's the GMs. It goes hand in hand. ... Josh Willingham would look great in this lineup. They didn't want to [pony] up for that last year. That's the decision they made, and this is the bed we're laying in."

Wow. Chris Perez telling what he believes is the truth and ruffling some feathers isn't a story these days. But Chris Perez going after the people who employ him is, again, shocking.

Perez, 27, has 34 saves in 38 chances with a 3.51 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings this season. He made his second straight All-Star Game.

The Indians appeared to be contenders for a while this season, but have gone 14-38 in the second half -- which includes an awful 5-24 August.
