Beating the White Sox hasn't been a problem for the Tigers this season -- it's following up those wins that's been tricky.

With Wednesday's victory in Chicago, the Tigers improved to 12-5 against the White Sox this season and have won four of six series between the two as well as splitting a two-game showdown in May. The only time this season Detroit has followed a victory against the White Sox with a victory against another team was in April, when after two losses the Tigers won the last game of the series, then went on to sweep the Royals. In the rest of their series following games against the White Sox, Detroit is 3-8.

The Tigers hosted the White Sox for the first time this season on May 4, winning that game and the last game of the three-game series before losing two of three at both Seattle and Oakland. Detroit then finished the road trip with a two-game series at U.S. Cellular Field, dropping the first game and winning the second. The team then lost both games of a two-game series against Minnesota, starting a stretch of eight games that saw them win just two.

The Tigers also lost six of eight games after sweeping the White Sox at Comerica Park in late July. And then, after sweeping the White Sox in a three-game series from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2, Detroit lost its next two against Cleveland and six of seven overall.

Once again, the Tigers face the Indians for a three-game series after a series victory over the division leaders. Unlike their mastery of the White Sox, the Tigers have struggled this season against the Indians, going 6-9. The Tigers follow that three-game series with a makeup game in Chicago before a 10-game homestand against the Athletics, Twins and Royals.
