Dusty Baker back in Cincinnati on Sunday

Dusty Baker back in Cincinnati on Sunday

By C. Trent Rosecrans | Blogger

Reds manager Dusty Baker visited the Reds clubhouse before Sunday night's game against the Dodgers after leaving a Chicago hospital earlier in the day. Baker didn't stay for the game, but briefly spoke to the team, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.

Baker, 63, was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat on Wednesday and had been held there even when the Reds returned to Cincinnati on Thursday. Baker missed the team's celebration Saturday, as the Reds defeated the Dodgers to give Baker his second NL Central title with Cincinnati.

"Hopefully with the day off [Monday] and him getting a good relaxing night tonight at home, he can come back on Tuesday and see how he feels. It's great news," bench coach and acting manager Chris Speier told MLB.com.

Baker's 13-year-old son, Darren, was expected to join the team for Sunday's game.

Cincinnati has gone 3-1 in Baker's absence.
