Josh Hamilton returns to lineup; blurred vision result of caffeine, sports drinks

Too much caffeine and too many sports drinks -- that's why Josh Hamilton has been out of the Rangers' lineup since Sept. 18. However, Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas reports that Hamilton will return to game action on Monday night against the A's.

Durrett also reports that Hamilton's recent vision problems are the result of a condition called ocular keratitis, which, in turn, is the result of -- yes -- excessive caffeine and too many sports drinks. Presumably, intake of those substances will be curtailed going forward, which should help his condition.

Hamilton is batting a healthy .287/.358/.588 this season with 42 homers. However, his numbers have dipped somewhat in the second half.
