Mets OF Lucas Duda had surgery to repair wrist he broke moving furniture

Mets outfielder Lucas Duda underwent surgery on Monday to repair a fracture in his right wrist, the Mets announced Tuesday afternoon.

Whether sneezing, moving deer meat, hugging a son, playing on the Internet too much, falling out of a hot tub or separating frozen hamburger patties with a very sharp knife, baseball players have never been immune from somewhat embarrassing off-field injuries. I guess we can add Duda to the list, because the Mets also announced he suffered the injury while moving furniture last month at his apartment in southern California.

The good news for the Mets is they expect Duda to be fully recovered in time for spring training. And, really, moving furniture is a far less embarrassing way to be injured than some of the above incidents.

Duda, 26, hit .239/.329/.389 with 15 homers, 57 RBI and 43 runs last season for the Mets. He took a step back from his 2011 season and was even demoted to Triple-A Buffalo for a stretch, but he still appears to be in the Mets' future plans.
