Free-agent utility infielder Maicer Izturis has signed a three-year deal worth $10 million with the Toronto Blue Jays, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Heyman also reports there is a club option for a fourth year.

Izturis, 32, hit .256/.320/.315 with 11 doubles, two homers, 20 RBI, 35 runs and 17 stolen bases in 319 plate appearances for the Angels last season. He spent time playing second base, shortstop and third base.

He has never been a full-time starter for an entire season, so it's possible the Blue Jays are bringing in Izturis to serve as a backup to Adeiny Hechavarria (second base), Yunel Escobar (shortstop) and Brett Lawrie (third base). It's also possible Escobar has completely fallen out of favor, clearing the way for Izturis to start at short. And, of course, considering it's still only early November, several more moves could change the infield landscape as well.

Izturis has spent the overwhelming majority of his career with the Angels, playing 759 games in eight seasons for them. He appeared in 32 games as a rookie for the Montreal Expos in 2004.
