Red Sox sign catcher David Ross

The Red Sox have signed catcher David Ross to a two-year pact worth a total of $6.2 million. FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal originally reported the deal.

The 35-year-old Ross is coming off a season in which he batted .256/.321/.449 for the Braves. He's a career .238/.324/.444 hitter across 11 major-league seasons. In other words, Ross is capable producing at a useful level by the standards of his position.
