The Marlins have agreed to a deal with 35-year-old Juan Pierre, CBSSports.com insider Jon Heyman confirms.

Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun Sentinel tweets that the deal is for one year and worth $1.6 million.

A Marlin from 2003-05, the outfielder played with the Phillies last season, hitting .307/.351/.371 with 37 stolen bases. In parts of 13 seasons with the Rockies, Marlins, Cubs, Dodgers, White Sox and Phillies, Pierre is a career .297/.346/.363 hitter, leading the league in stolen bases three times.

According to Rodriguez, Pierre will compete for time in left field, as Logan Morrison is expected to play more at first base.
