The Phillies and Giants have each made a four-year offer to free-agent center fielder Angel Pagan, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.

The motivations? The reigning-champion Giants would of course love to bring back Pagan, a core member of their championship team, while the Phillies, according to Rosenthal, may be motivated by the Braves' recent signing of B.J. Upton. Michael Bourn remains a coveted option, but he figures to command a heftier contract than does Pagan.

Pagan, age 31, is coming off a season in which he batted .288/.338/.440 with 29 steals in 36 chances, 38 doubles and a majors-leading 15 triples. That's in addition to providing excellent defense in center. For his career, Pagan is hitting .281/.333/.424.
