NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- On the heels of signing free-agent catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli, the Red Sox are now talking to free-agent outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher.

Winter Meetings Central

CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports Swisher is a "possibility" for Boston. CBSSports.com's Scott Miller reports the Red Sox are indeed in on Swisher but are discussing various possibilites such as Shane Victorino -- as noted in our Rumors blog.

Swisher, 32, hit .272/.364/.473 with 24 homers and 93 RBI for the Yankees last season. Given that he's a high on-base guy, a switch hitter with power and can play either right field or first base, he'd be a great fit for the Red Sox.
