Youk as a Yank? It's no big deal -- or is it?
Youkilis boasts a career batting line of .283/.384/.482, but given that he seems to be in his decline phase, he's not likely to approach those levels again. Defensively, he's below average at third these days. Still, as stop-gap measures go, he's not bad, especially in what is a weak market for third basemen.
The Yankees, of course, find themselves in need of an everyday solution at the position because of Alex Rodriguez's forthcoming hip surgery, which will sideline him until at least midseason. Youkilis has spent the vast majority of his career in a Boston uniform, so his early reception by Yankee fans will be interesting.
On the other hand, any "boo!" can be safely dismissed as a "Youk!"
