Sources are now saying that negotiations with Dickey have ended successfully at an affordable rate and that the next step before an announcement can be made is for Jays' medical staff to examine the righthander at their spring training headquarters in Florida.
CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman confirms that Dickey and the Jays have agreed upon a two-year contract extension ($25 million, per Ken Rosenthal) and that a physical is all that remains before the trade is finalized.
Barring further complication, the Jays will be adding the reigning NL Cy Young winner to their rotation and also receive catcher Josh Thole and a mid-line prospect. The Mets, meantime, will get catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud and right-handed pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard (two of the best in the Toronto system), in addition to veteran catcher John Buck and another, presumably less impressive prospect.
