Hanrahan is coming off a superficially impressive season in 2012, but his serious control problems are a concern. As for Bailey, he certainly has shutdown stuff, but he's never been able to stay healthy.
The bullpen depth in Boston is nice, but there are no sure things when it comes to getting outs in the ninth inning. For now, though, Hanrahan will be tasked with protecting ninth-inning leads.
