Jeremy Guthrie: Responsible partier

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

It's New Year's Eve. There are bound to be copious amounts of alcoholic beverages consumed. To each his own, of course, but I'm definitely fine with it. Let us just hope that everyone is responsible in the amount of consumption and for all that is holy, do not drink and drive.

On the latter topic, one thing that has always boggled my mind is the amount of rich celebrities, yes including baseball players, who end up with a DUI. No one should ever drive under the influence, but if you're rich, pay someone to drive you home or to your hotel. It's not too difficult an equation.

Royals starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie gets it:

If only everyone were as responsible.

I'm holding out hope, but it definitely won't surprise me to see a report of an MLBer arrested on suspicion of DUI Tuesday morning.
