Marcum, 31, went 7-4 with a 3.70 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 109 strikeouts in 124 innings for the Brewers this past season. He made only 21 starts as an elbow issue hampered him. In 2011, Marcum went 13-7 with a 3.54 ERA as the Brewers went on to win the NL Central.
The right-handed Marcum helps break up the lefties -- Johan Santana and Jonathon Niese -- atop the Mets' rotation. In fact, the Mets now look to have pretty good starting pitching depth. The rotation appears to be: Santana, Marcum, Niese, Dillon Gee and promising youngster Matt Harvey. Young Jenrry Mejia is also in the mix, as is highly-touted prospect Zack Wheeler and several other well-regarded prospects.
