Chad Cordero will make comeback attempt, signs with Angels

Former Expos and Nationals closer Chad Cordero is going to attempt a comeback with the Angels. He announced the details on Twitter:

Cordero, 30, has not pitched in the big leagues since 2010, when he made nine appearances with the Mariners. He hasn't pitched regularly since the 2007 season due to continued arm problems, most notably a SLAP tear in his labrum. Cordero had surgery in July 2008 and has rarely been on the mound since.

Before the injuries set in, Cordero spent five years closing for the Expos/Nationals franchise. He was the 20th overall pick in the 2003 draft and made his MLB debut later that year, pitching to a 2.79 ERA with 128 saves from 2003-07. Cordero went to the 2005 All-Star Game and received both Cy Young and MVP votes that year.

If he manages to make it back to the big league, Cordero will jump onto our list of still active former Expos.
