Video: Mariners staffers greet Felix Hernandez before press conference

By Mike Axisa | Baseball Writer

This is pretty awesome. Before Wednesday's press conference announcing his new seven-year, $175-million contract with the Mariners, Felix Hernandez was surprised by Mariners staffers wearing King's Court T-shirts when he got off the elevator. As you can see in the video, Felix got pretty emotional.

The press conference was reportedly more of the same, with lots of happy tears and thank yous. Hernandez joined the organization as a 16-year-old in 2002, so he's grown up as a Mariner and his excitement to be with the team long-term seems genuine. It's refreshing.
