Orioles reliever Luis Ayala will not pitch for Team Mexico in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, reports MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli. The right-hander pitched in both the 2006 and '09 tournaments.

Ayala, 35, was a workhorse for Baltimore last season, throwing 75 innings across 66 appearances. He posted a 2.64 ERA and a 49-percent ground ball rate after managing a 2.09 ERA in 56 innings for the Yankees in 2011. Ayala somewhat famously blew out his elbow in the 2006 WBC, an injury that required season-ending Tommy John surgery.
