  • Cardinals: Shortstop Rafael Furcal, who's been limited by a bone spur in his throwing elbow, received an anti-inflammatory injection on Friday. He was not in the lineup for the Cards' Grapefruit League opener on Saturday. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
  • Cubs: RHP Scott Baker, who missed all of 2012 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, is on target to make his spring debut in the middle of March. Although, according to manager Dale Sveum, Baker is likely to open the season on the DL, he should be ready to join the rotation by mid-April. (Chicago Sun-Times) ... 3B Ian Stewart could be miss the next three weeks after being diagnosed with a strained left quad. (Chicago Tribune)
  • Dodgers: Import lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu reported to camp 40 pounds over his weight at the time of his signing this offseason. (Dylan Hernandez via Twitter)
  • Mariners: Ace Felix Hernandez, who's been experiencing some elbow discomfort, won't see any game action until at least the first week of March. At this point, consider it a precautionary measure. (MLB.com)
  • Padres: The team is hoping that RHP Andrew Cashner, who underwent offseason thumb surgery, will be able to throw from a mound by next Friday. (MLB.com) ... CF Cameron Maybin (wrist) could see game action on Sunday. (Corey Brock via Twitter)
  • Pirates: LHP Francisco Liriano (broken non-throwing arm) is able to participate in soft-toss sessions and by early next month should be able to increase his activity to include playing catch and running. Elsewhere, right-hander Jeff Karstens (biceps) is improving. He's scheduled for a bullpen session on Tuesday and then to throw a live batting practice session on Tuesday. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)
  • Rays: Reliever Kyle Farnsworth is still limited because of soreness in his throwing arm. At this point, he's still expected to be 100 percent by opening day. (Tampa Tribune)
  • Red Sox: RHP John Lackey, who's working his way back from Tommy John surgery, threw an inning on Saturday. Of his 20 pitches, 19 were fastballs, and his gun readings reached the high 80s. (Boston Herald) ... RHP Clay Buchholz (hamstring) says he felt "really good" during a Saturday simulated outing. (ESPN Boston) ... 1B Mike Napoli (degenerative hips) could run the bases on Sunday and could see game action next week. (Boston Herald)
  • White Sox: After a successful Saturday throwing session, White Sox lefty John Danks, who's recovering from August shoulder surgery, says he'll be ready for opening day. (Chicago Sun-Times)
  • Yankees: All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter cleared an important hurdle on Saturday, as he was able to run the bases for the first time since fracturing his ankle in the ALCS. He's not yet ready for game action. (MLB.com)
