Charges of sexual assault against Darius McClinton-Hunter, son of Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter, have been dropped after a Texas grand jury opted not to indict the 18-year-old.

The Associated Press reports jurors cited a lack of evidence in the case. McClinton-Hunter had been accused of "forcing himself" upon an adolescent -- charges his attorney firmly denied. The attorney also said he provided evidence the alleged victim no longer stood by her original claims (NBCDFW.com). Hunter's co-defendant was indicted on one lesser charge of unlawful restraint of a child.

McClinton-Hunter was originally one of five arrested on sexual-assault charges that were the result of a five-month investigation.

Torii Hunter was a member of the Angels at the time of the arrest.
