So I found out Wednesday morning that you can now do a GIF search on Google, by choosing "animated" in an image search. I decided to check it out by merely googling "baseball" and sorting through whatever GIFs popped up. And I found this beauty:
That is former Expos and Red Sox prospect Israel "Izzy" Alcantara dodging an inside pitch and starting a fight with one of the most bush-league moves you'll ever see. It came when he was playing for the Pawtucket Red Sox. He barely had to even move on the inside pitch, but he thought they were coming after him.
I guess the rationale is that kicking the catcher prevents the catcher from running him down as he charges the mound. I guess. Regardless, it's pathetic.
Alcantara went on to play 51 games in the majors for the Red Sox and Brewers, but he never did anything nearly as noteworthy as this cowardly maneuver.
