Bo Jackson to throw out first pitch before Royals-White Sox game

As administrators of ceremonial first pitches go, it's hard to beat this one: Bo Jackson.

Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports Jackson will indeed fire the first pitch prior to the Royals-White Sox game on opening day in Chicago. The now-50-year-old Jackson, of course, played for the Royals from 1986-90 and later spent two seasons as the White Sox's DH.

In parts of eight major-league seasons, Jackson batted .250/.309/.474 with 141 homers and 82 stolen bases. Of course, the numbers don't begin to tell the story of Jackson's superlative athleticism and cultural prominence.

On the aesthetically pleasing subject of Bo, consider this obligatory (and eternally wondrous) ...
