Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson announced on Saturday that left-hander Patrick Corbin will be the team's fifth starter to open the season.

Corbin, 23, went 6-8 with a 4.54 ERA in 17 starts and five relief appearances last season. He pitched to a 3.88 ERA in 19 2/3 spring training innings, beating out the likes of Tyler Skaggs and Randall Delgado for the final rotation spot.

Corbin will join Rookie of the Year runner-up Wade Miley, Trevor Cahill, Brandon McCarthy and opening day starter Ian Kennedy in the rotation.
