The Reds have placed left-handed reliever Sean Marshall on the 15-day DL with left shoulder tendinitis, the team announced. Right-hander Logan Ondrusek was recalled from Double-A to fill the roster spot.

“I felt great yesterday,” said Marshall to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I pitched Sunday. I didn't feel great Monday. I like to bounce back well. We thought it was the best thing (to go on the DL) ... [It] was in the best interest of myself and the rest of the guys to take this little DL stint and strength my shoulder and get it back to 100 percent, so I can pitch the rest of the year without problems.”

Marshall, 30, has been dealing with a shoulder issue since spring training. An MRI showed no structural damage and because the DL stint has been back-dated to his last appearance, he is eligible to return in 13 days.

Last summer Marshall pitched to a 2.51 ERA with 10.9 K/9 in 61 innings as Aroldis Chapman's primary setup man. He struck out one in a scoreless inning over the weekend, his only appearance of the season.

Ondrusek, 28, has posted a 3.45 ERA with 6.1 K/9 in 174 2/3 innings with the Reds over the last three seasons.
