Orioles slugger Chris Davis has punished the baseball early on in the 2013 season. Thursday night -- on a very cold night in Fenway Park, mind you -- was no different. Check out what Davis did to this Alfredo Aceves offering:
That gave Davis six homers and 19 RBI before his team's ninth game of the season was complete.
He didn't hit his sixth home run last season until May 21, in the Orioles' 43rd game. He didn't drive home his 19th run last season until May 25, in the Orioles' 46th game.
Even more impressive is that Davis is simply carrying over what he started at the end of last season.
In the last seven games of the 2012 regular season, Davis hit .360/.407/.1,200 with seven homers and 13 RBI.
So in Davis' last 16 regular-season games, he's hit 13 home runs and driven home 32 runs. And after he walked in his second plate appearance Thursday, his triple slash line for the 2013 season was .400/.486/.1.000.
In all, I'm pretty sure if you added up all the numbers we see above it would equal "a pitcher's greatest nightmare."
