Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown left Wednesday's game against the Reds after feeling a "pop" in his back while diving for a fly ball in the fourth inning. He will be examined on Thursday.

“I don't know what happened,” said Brown to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. “We're going to get an MRI and see exactly what's going on. I don't think it's anything major at all. ... I felt some pain immediately. Once I took a couple of swings, I really felt it.”

Brown, 25, has battled numerous injuries over the years, but nothing involving his back. He has taken over as the team's everyday left fielder and is hitting .231/.273/.365 on the young season.

Laynce Nix and John Mayberry Jr. have been platooning in right field, so one could shift to left full-time if Brown has to go on the DL or otherwise miss any games. Speedster Ezequiel Carrera is another option. Ben Revere is entrenched in center field.
