The Phillies have placed left-handed starting pitcher John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee, the club announced via press release on Thursday.

Lannan, 28, is 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and seven strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings.

Of course, Lannan had a 2.77 ERA through two starts before the Reds tuned him up for six earned runs in just 1 2/3 innings on Wednesday night in Cincinnati. That has a way of ruining early season stat lines.

The Phillies haven't made the call just yet on who will replace Lannan in the rotation. Lefty Adam Morgan might have worked, but he threw 100 pitches on Thursday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Tyler Cloyd made six starts for the Phillies last season but has struggled to start the season in Triple-A this year (0-2, 7.07). Zach Miner has made 24 big-league starts and is also on that same Triple-A team, though he's also off to a terrible start (9.82 ERA in 7 1/3 innings).
