UPDATE: The second suspect, Dzokhar Tsarnaev, was apprehended by the authorities Friday night, ending a massive manhunt in Boston.
This is far from the most serious thing going on in Boston right now, but Friday's game at Fenway Park between the Royals and Red Sox has been postponed, the host team announced. The decision is of course prompted by the ongoing manhunt that in essence has a large swath of the Boston area in lockdown.
The Red Sox come into the scheduled three-game series with a 2 1/2-game lead in the AL East. This is to be Kansas City's only trip to Fenway in 2013, so a Saturday or Sunday doubleheader is likely under consideration, provided, of course, that it's possible to play on those days.
On the subject of the Red Sox and the harrowing events in their city, here's a fitting tweet from third baseman and player rep Will Middlebrooks:
Proud of this city and everyone who is helping get us back to normal. #BostonPDStay safe everyone.— Will Middlebrooks (@middlebrooks) April 19, 2013
Our thoughts are with all of Boston and especially with all the brave members of law enforcement who are right now fighting the good fight for all of us. May this end soon.
