The strained left oblique that White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo suffered on Thursday night has forced him to the 15-day disabled list. The move is retroactive to Friday, which means he'll be off the active roster for the next 14 days, barring setback or slow healing. Phil Rogers points out that, while left oblique injuries can be troublesome for right-handed hitters like Viciedo, the White Sox believe they shut him down before he was able to aggravate the initial strain.

The 24-year-old Viciedo is batting .229/.229/.417 with two home runs this season, and for his career he owns a line of .261/.302/.435. The Sox have recalled outfielder Blake Tekotte from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Viciedo on the active roster.

As Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune notes, on Saturday against the Twins, the Sox will use Jordan Danks in center, slide Alejandro De Aza over to left and keep Alex Rios in right.
