Courtesy of Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, here's the bad news concerning Rays shortstop prospect Hak-Ju Lee:
#Rays SS prospect Hak-Ju Lee tore ligaments in left knee in rough 2B collision in Durham game, likely done for season— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) April 21, 2013
Rays Index has footage of the injury, and I'll say at the outset that it's not pleasant to look at.
The 22-year-old Lee, who was signed out of South Korea, is regarded as a standout defender at short, and he owns a respectable .753 OPS to go with 133 stolen bases across parts of five minor-league seasons. This season for Triple-A Durham, Lee was off to a hot start: .422/.536/.600 in 15 games.
Coming into this season, Baseball America ranked Lee 90th on its prospect list, while MLB.com tabbed him as the 56th-best prospect in baseball.
