Likely in light of his recent performance in addition to his ongoing attitude issue, Red Sox relief pitcher Alfredo Aceves has been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. The Red Sox announced the move rather quickly after Wednesday's victory over the Athletics and won't decide on a corresponding move until Thursday.

The latest in a long line of attitude issues with Aceves came after he allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings to the A's on Tuesday -- as after the game he asked, "why didn't we hit?" Sure, the Red Sox were shut out, but the offense has had a helluva lot better season than Aceves. Maybe take a look in a mirror every once in a while. I think the operative word here is spelled a-c-c-o-u-n-t-a-b-i-l-i-t-y.

Aceves, 30, is 1-1 with an 8.66 ERA and 2.09 WHIP in 17 2/3 innings this season. He was very good for the Red Sox in 2011, but those days are long gone as he was 2-10 with a 5.36 ERA and 1.32 WHIP last season in 84 innings.

Then again, I'm sure this is someone else's fault. It always is, after all.
